Kalachakra: The Tantric Buddhist Ritual Given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a remarkable interactive multimedia project documenting one of the most sacred and profound ceremonies of Tibetan Buddhist tantra. The initiation took place in August 2000 within the remote alpine landscapes of the Spiti Valley, located in the northwestern Indian Himalayas at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters. Over 15,000 devotees from India, Europe, America, and Australia gathered in this inaccessible region to receive empowerment directly from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet. This release provides a detailed exploration of a complex system of teachings, ritual dances, prayers, and the creation of the sacred sand mandala, which, according to Buddhist belief, dates back to the first king of Shambala.

The publishing project seamlessly blends visual storytelling with insightful commentary. The Image Track features an interactive photostory developed by renowned Slovenian photographer Bojan Brecelj, using original on-site photography and ambient sound recordings. The Sound Track, accompanied by commentary written by Maja Megla, offers a deeper look into the initiation's symbolism and philosophical underpinnings. Designed as a hybrid CD-ROM, the disc features a multimedia application for Mac/PC computers while allowing the audio tracks to be played on regular audio CD players.
