When to Cleanse

When you buy or receive a new stone, crystal, or jewelry with stones, first cleanse and charge it. Stones absorb energies from the environment, so they need regular cleansing and charging. Frequency depends on how often you carry them and what period you're going through. Sometimes daily cleansing is needed. Follow your intuition.

Be cautious when choosing methods, as not all are suitable for every stone type. If in doubt, use water-free and salt-free methods. Water acts like acid on some crystals and stones.

Full Moon

The full moon has particularly powerful effects for cleansing and charging crystals. Leave them overnight outside on the ground or windowsill (even if cloudy). In case of rain, protect sensitive stones in a closed glass jar. This is completely safe for all stones, especially recommended for softer stones like malachite, selenite...

Sun

The sun is also a very powerful method for cleansing crystals. Even in cloudy weather, the crystal will recharge. Be careful, as some stones fade in sunlight (e.g., rose quartz, amethyst). Recommended for softer stones like malachite, selenite...

Mother Earth

Stones and crystals come from the earth, so one of the most natural cleansing and charging methods is burying them in the ground for 24 hours. Wrap jewelry with stones and crystals in cloth and cover with soil.

Running Water

Hold the stone under clean, running water to cleanse and charge it. Natural springs, clean streams, or rivers are ideal. Not suitable for some stones. Can be cleansed in water: agate, amethyst, aventurine, lightning stone, citrine, tiger's eye, red jasper, rose quartz, smoky quartz, snow quartz, turquoise...

Sea Salt

The cleansing effects of sea salt have long been known. Many cleanse stones by placing them directly on natural sea salt. However, be careful - this method is too harsh for softer stones. Not suitable for: hematite, pyrite, and many others. Suitable for quartz crystals.

Salt Water

This method is also not suitable for softer stones. Leave harder stones overnight in a glass filled with purified water and natural sea salt. Stones can also be cleansed with sea water for about a minute. Then rinse, gently wipe, or let air dry. For sensitive stones and jewelry, place them in a small glass jar inside a container of salt water. Ensure water doesn't enter the jar with stones and jewelry. Leave for a few hours or overnight. Salt water not suitable for: hematite, pyrite, and many others. Suitable for quartz crystals.

Incense

Incense provides very effective and safe cleansing for stones and jewelry. Use: white sage, sandalwood, palo santo, cedar, frankincense, or special incense blend. Hold the stone in the incense smoke for 30 seconds to clear negative energy. Incense is one of the safest methods for cleansing crystals and stones.

Sound

For sound cleansing, use singing Tibetan bowl, cymbals, bell, tuning forks, singing... Place small stones in the Tibetan bowl, larger ones nearby. Play the bowl with intention for a few minutes. Completely safe method for all stones and crystals.

Visualization

Visualize a beam of white light cleansing your stone or crystal.

Reiki

Reiki energy cleanses and charges crystals. If you have Reiki level 1, simply hold the stone in your hand and let Reiki energy flow through it. With Reiki level 2, you can use symbols for cleansing crystals.

Intention

Focus your attention on the crystal and ask the universe, higher consciousness, guides, your angel... to cleanse the stone of all negative energies and recharge it to maximum. Don't forget to give thanks.

Other Crystals

Place your stone on a larger lightning stone cluster, which will cleanse negative energies and recharge it. The cleansing lightning stone also needs regular cleansing and charging.

Shamanic Method for Lightning Stone or Quartz Crystal

When selecting a quartz crystal, rinse it in a natural spring or sea. Then store it separately until winter or summer solstice. Take it to a high, isolated hill or peak. Take a wooden stick, split one end, and stick the other end into the ground. Wedge the quartz crystal into the split end and leave it for 8 days to charge.
