What is Myrrh resin?

Myrrh is a dried resin from the low-growing desert tree Commiphora myrrha (in areas of Somalia, Yemen and eastern Ethiopia) and the balsam family. The tree secretes a viscous yellow gum that hardens into a reddish-brown resin. The characteristic of most balsam trees is that they secrete resin without human intervention (bark removal). The myrrh tree has many branches and long thorns. The pointed branches represent their weak point, where the resin can be secreted without harming the tree. The myrrh resin flows naturally from the tree, so the picker can collect it without damaging the tree.
Each myrrh tree naturally secretes 2-4 kilograms of resin per year; of course "naturally grown" trees produce less, but the sheer number of myrrh trees alone means that around 10 tons of Suhul myrrh are available in all of Somalia. Suhul is the name for sustainably harvested myrrh.
Suhul myrrh is not better than conventionally harvested myrrh only because of sustainability - the quality of sustainably harvested resin is undoubtedly better, the smell is much more intense and the resin is also cleaner.

On the smell of Myrrh resin

Balsamic, bitter, spicy and slightly sweet.

Effects of Myrrh resin

In ancient times, myrrh was one of the most important and valuable incenses, along with olibanum (frankincense). Myrrh incense is said to have been one of the gifts given to Jesus at his birth by the Holy Three Kings. In various ancient cultures, myrrh symbolized the womb of the earth and female sensuality. There is something deep and mystical about the smell of myrrh. It has the power to restore harmony to the mind, body and soul. It sharpens the eye for the essential and creates a connection with the subtle worlds.

- Destroys airborne bacteria.
- Clears the energy in the room.
- Protects against negative energies.
- Raises vibration during meditation.

Method of use
